Schweizerische Polierzeitung: A look inside

A look at the graphic design elements and some ads.
Second picture: My two favorite columns: Beton (concrete) and Der Unfall des Monats (the accident of the month).
Last Picture: Shows the Hochhaus zur Palme by Max Ernst Haefeli, Werner Max Moser and Rudolf Steiger in Zurich.
Their coverage of the Swiss Expo 64 deserves its own post, coming soon.
Previously: The covers of these magazines.

  1. In this kind of magazine, Helvetica typesetting and brutalism architecture go hand in hand, like the 2 sides of the same coin. Great post.

  2. Totally. I like the fact that this was aimed at the people who actually built the modernist architecture, and thus is full of hands-on stuff like accidents and dredges. The second ad (Bangerter Lyss) shows a nice picture for that: The brutalist concrete element and the worker smoking his cheap cigar. And I remember that masons always had a cigar in their mouth (and a sixpack of beer nearby), even in the eighties when I was a kid.
